Coming to PPGA Fall 2016: DivaCup Demonstration
5/21/2016
Vox has just received a demo kit (plus goodies!) from DivaCup! DivaCup is a brand of menstrual cup, a device used by those who menstruate. It works sort of like a tampon, except it is made out of silicone, is re-useable, and is not associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome. Menstrual cups are a little more expensive than your run-of-the-mill pads or tampons, but they are more environmentally friendly and more economical in the long-run if you purchase/use a lot of menstrual products. One downside is that users of IUDs (Intra-Uterine Devices) and NuvaRings are advised to either use menstrual cups with caution, or not use them at all, as they could possibly interfere with the device. If you are a person who is not fond of traditional menstrual products and do not use one of the aforementioned methods of birth control, see if a DivaCup or other menstrual cup is right for you!

36 Planned Parenthood clinics in the United States now offer HRT or Hormone Replacement Therapy for transgender folks! While this service is not yet available in New Jersey (or Pennsylvania), it PP has stated that they are working on expanding the service. This is a huge breakthrough in terms of queer reproductive rights!
Vox at TCNJ named Great American Condom Campaign SafeSite
9/17/2013
Vox was chosen as a SafeSite for the Great American Condom Campaign for the Fall 2013 semester. The Great American Condom Campaign is a youth-led grassroots movement to make the U.S. a sexually healthy nation. Each year, GACC members give out 1,000,000 Trojan Brand condoms on college campuses across the United States, educate their peers about sexual health, and organize to improve the policies that affect young people's health and lives. Vox was given 500 Trojan® brand condoms that will be distributed throughout the semester as prizes for games and at our annual event Condom Casino, cosponsored with ResEd! For more information on the Great American Condom Campaign, visit their website here.
Today is Global Female Condom Day!
9/16/2013
September 16, 2013 marks the second annual Global Female Condom Day---a day of education and advocacy to increase awareness, access, and use of female condoms. On this day, advocates around the world take action to teach their communities about female condoms by hosting mini film festivals, creating videos, or simply speaking to their friends and colleagues. This year, Vox at TCNJ will be participating in this international event by providing information about the female condom during our weekly meeting. To find out more about how you can get involved, visit http://www.nationalfccoalition.org/gfcd.
Vox at TCNJ welcomes new members!
9/4/2013
This year's Fall Student Activities Fair fell on a gorgeous, if breezy, summer day. It was wonderful to see so many fresh faces and catch up with returning members. We had 61 new student sign-ups at our table! We're looking forward to sharing a fun-filled semester with everyone!
Vox members attend National Youth Organizing and Policy Conference in Washington, D.C.
7/15/2013
This July, two of our very own Vox members traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 2013 YOPC. This year, more than 250 youth activists gathered to share ideas, meet other student leaders, and continue to build a national movement for sexual and reproductive health. During the four-day conference, participants met with members of Congress and staff from their offices on Capitol Hill, learned about young people's important role in the reproductive health, rights, and justice movement, and heard from inspiring speakers such as Cecile Richards, Melissa Harris-Perry, and Senator Elizabeth Warren.
PAST EVENTS
Celebrate Choice!
On Wednesday, September 15th, Vox hosted Celebrate Choice, an event that commemorated women and their right to choose with speakers, stories, and thoughtful discussion. It featured speeches from Vox e-board members, women professionally involved in the pro-choice movement, and some professors from the Women and Gender Studies department here at TCNJ.
GYT: Get Yourself Tested
In recognition of National STD Awareness Month, MTV, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and its nationwide network of health centers, and other partners have banded together to promote the GYT campaign to increase testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among young Americans.
Did you know that you can get tested for STIs/STDs right on campus? Planned Parenthood has a health clinic on campus, located in Eickhoff Hall, Room 107. Visit the website and call 609-771-2110 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Gov. Christie proposes total elimination of state family planning funding
We were dealt quite a blow when Governor Christie eliminated ALL funding for family planning services from his proposed budget. Not only will it end up costing New Jersey more money (every $1 invested in family planning saves $4 in related Medicaid costs - that means we will end up spending $30 million instead of saving the $7.5 million cut!), but it will also directly affect us at TCNJ: our Planned Parenthood here on campus could be cut, which would lead to less accessible contraception and screening procedures for students here.
